FAQs

How are Sentir House scented candles and room sprays made?

Our scented candles and room sprays are created and hand poured on the Gold Coast, Australia. We use locally handmade concrete vessels, premium quality fragrance oils and an Australian soy wax blend for our candles. For our scented room sprays, we infuse the same fragrance oils into a perfume grade base so you can enjoy the scent of your favourite candle wherever you are.

Do you use fragrance oils or essential oils?

We use a combination of both fragrance oils and natural essential oils. Whilst we love the idea of using just natural essential oils, they don’t offer as great of a scent throw for candles and unfortunately, some essential oils can become toxic when exposed to such high levels of heat.  All of the fragrances used in our scented candles and room sprays are acquired from verified suppliers and are certified by the IFRA (International Fragrance Association).

What type of wicks do you use?

We use 100% natural lead free wicks.

What does candle sweating or frosting mean?

Some candles can be known to ‘sweat’ which is simply just the natural oils separating from the wax. Rest assured that this does not affect the quality of the candle, the performance or the scent throw. If this occurs, it is usually as a result of moving the candle from one extreme temperature to another.

Frosting refers to a white crystalline layer which can form on the surface of a candle when the natural wax tries to return to its natural state. As with candle sweating, this won’t affect your candle in any negative way.

How can I reuse the concrete candle jar?

When your candle is nearly finished, ensure you leave about 1/2 inch of wax as you shouldn't try and burn your candle all the way to the base. Once it gets to this level, boil some water and pour it into the jar and let it sit for a little while. Gently scrape away the remaining wax, remove the wick and give the concrete jar a wash in warm, soapy water. Afterwards you can reuse it as you please.
